Tony and Judith Eastwood started Small Beer as an Off Licence in the West End of Lincoln in September 1980. Tony was an active CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) member in Lincoln at a time when public houses were stocking a growing range of Keg Bitters and Lagers. Small Beer was an immediate success as it revealed the public’s genuine demand for a range of quality cask ales. The business grew and grew over the years into the fully composite wholesale business it is today supplying over 2000 products to over 500 outlets up and down the eastern side of England.
The traditional values of service and reliability on which Small Beer was founded are assured for the future in the hands of Tony and Judith’s son Rob who joined the company as Commercial Manager in September 2008. Rob has given the company fresh impetus to further develop and strengthen the business to meet the challenges of today’s changing market place.
As a company, Small Beer is incredibly proud of its relationships with suppliers and customers. These are maintained in no small part thanks to the dedicated team of 25 staff currently employed. They are a fantastic bunch and most of them have been with the company for a very long time.
The Small Beer Team
